I am type 1 and 80lbs. No matter what I do, I can’t seem to gain weight. Any vegetarian or vegan suggestions to put some weight without risking a huge spike?

Talk to your primary care doctor and endocrinologist. When I lost 40 lbs and went down to 80 lbs. My primary doctor thought I was type 2 because of my age. She put me on insulin but I was still struggling. She sent me to an endocrinologist where I got diagnosed as being type 1. I am on insulin therapy. I am now back up to 120 where I used to be. Now I watch what I eat to maintain my weight.

My mother needed to gain weight after her diagnosis. Her doctor had her drink a shake like glucerna along with her meals to add extra calories to her diet. Then, when she reached a good weight, she stopped drinking them and has been at a good weight since.
