What About Eating A Hotel Breakfast Buffet?

A myT1Dteam Member asked a question 💭
Memphis, TN

I was very aware of what I should avoid and had scrambled eggs with shredded cheese and a small serving of red grapes with about 4 chunks of pineapple.

No wheat bread available for toast so I avoided the white bread, bagels and English muffins.

I believe the even though the carbs are not much different from white to wheat bread it seems my body doesn’t care
for the white flour so I was cautious not to eat the white bread.

My BS went into the mid 200’s

What should I have eaten differently?

My ideology is yes the body needs carbs and with carbs the body needs insulin and or exercise. High doses of insulin can be bad. So I keep my carb intake down to no more than 60g per meal unless I need more. Right now is 160 at 9:44am. I had a breakfast sandwich 42g for breakfast. Next meal most likely a salad yummm.

Grapes and pineapple are both high on glycemic scale-- bacon, eggs, cheese, veggie omelet, avocado slices, cottage cheese.

Grapes can be sugar bombs. I have noticed certain types of grapes do more than others. I usually have a small omelet (Ham, cheese, mushrooms and peppers) with half a English muffin w/PB.

The grapes make my sugars go up as well.

I also stay to low carbs. I usually eat 25-35 carbs per meal most of the time I have 15-25. No matter what or how I eat my meal, i roller-coaster.
