Since I've been using a glucose monitor, I have talked with a few random people who noticed it on me and it's good to see others in the same boat. So show off those monitors proudly and be noticed by others in the same situation.

Any time I see someone with a pump or CGM I always say hello. I grew up with T1 and went to a diabetes camp. I'm still in touch with some of my fellow campers, but we don't talk often since I moved across the country. When we do, Yes, we talk some about our health, etc., but we also talk about our lives. I also participate in several online chats and a couple of monthly online meet ups.

Hi! I don't know a single other T1, hence me being on this site :). No one in my family has it or friends. I don't talk about my diabetes very much at all, which can be very isolating. I'm trying to work on that though...

It makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it??? I have a sweet friend that I walk with and we always share stuff. Sometimes we shoot each other texts about what's happening throughout the day as well. I spent 30 years standing behind the chair as a hairdresser. I met so many other T1s as clients and also clients of the other stylists at my salons. There were days when a few of us would end up having an unplanned roundtable collab. It was always great! I'm thinking I'd love to host a free roundtable Zoom for all of us to be able to learn from and support each other. If it proves to be helpful and people like it I'd like to hoist it every week for us all.

My daughter was diagnosed at 32 with LADA. We talk about it fairly often.
