It will be okay. I always worried but with the suspend delivery function on my pump I was fine. I have had several colonoscopies. I stocked Gatorade with sugar and Gatorade without sugar, between the two and my pump readings my sugar was a little higher than I like but nothing to worry about. I had a two day clean out as well. Hope that is reassuringšŸŽˆ

If you basal is well set and tested - you shouldnā€™t need to do much of anything. Fasting when using accurate amounts of basal means your blood sugar should stay well stabilized.

Make sure you get the sugar free prep, and have dextrose ready in case you trend a bit low due to nerves, or the procedureā€™s time of day.

Iā€™ve never adjusted basal for surgeries or procedures such as the one youā€™re having. I just stop eating. Make sure your basal dose isnt skipped - lpwer it if youā€™re uncertain of its accuracy - but id never skip. That could leave you quite high - and risk cancelling your procedure.

When prepping for the scope, the day before, I drink warm chicken broth, banana popsicles, pineapple jello and drink unsweet tea or sugar free sprite. I check my blood sugar throughout the day and do a correction if the blood sugar is starting to rise. It's better to keep it a little high, 150 - 200, than to let it go low. I keep a 2 liter bottle of sweet Sprite on hand for low blood sugars. Depending on your treatment, shots or pump, you might have to lower your daily dose of insulin, but it would only be for two days. šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ I have a colonoscopy every year. I am a colon cancer survivor.

Take a bottle of oj with you and have them keep a close eye on your sugars. Good thing is colonscopys don't take long at all.
