67 Years Old Just Diagnosed With LADA Anyone Have Any Experience With This Type Of Diabeties Also Known As Type 1.5?
I was diagnosed with LADA at 70 years old this past September. My doctor kept telling me I was pre diabetic until I found a new doctor who gave me the GAD test. Got insulin the next day. I am surprised to hear of so many people diagnosed in their later years.
My father and I both have the type of diabetes. Originally we were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes but years later our diagnosis was changed after lab work. My diabetes is slow progressing. I did start insulin on the day my diagnosis was changed to type one but my insulin needs were very low. Its been almost 3 years for me and my insulin needs are slowly increasing now.
My mother has LADA. She was diagnosed in her late 50s/early 60s. She is now 95 and healthy as can be! Take care of yourself, keep your blood sugars in range as much as you can, exercise every day, and you can live a healthy life with LADA too!
I was diagnosed last April at age 61. I am completely overwhelmed with it. No one in my family has it and no one understands what is involved. I feel like my old life is over and I must now start a new way to live. Christmas was hard with parties and dinners. I just joined this group and hoping to get positive tips on living with this without it completely overtaking your life.
