Type 1 is an autoimmune disease. We will always have it, we did nothing to cause it, and we can’t reverse it.

There is no real diagnosis code for 1.5 - it’s a made up term because I it’s Type 1 as an adult, which was thought to not happen. Not doctors are realizing that adults have been misdiagnosed for decades. They were diagnosed as T2 because of gross stereotypes, now they are learning they were LADA, or adult diagnosed Type 1s.

Yes! Diagnosed by lazy endocrinologist who stereotyped me because of my age. But when meds were ineffective I asked for an antibody panel she said, “I never thought you looked like a type 2”😬POS across the board. Started insulin therapy

I have type 1 with antibodies, for many years, I was told I brought this on myself and Adult onset is always type 2. This is not the case for some like myself, I have what some call type 1.5 which is autoimmune related as my body attacked my pancreas, and was finally tested for the antibodies about 12 or 13 years ago. I hope this answers your quedtion.
