I was told by my Endocrinologist that a major viral load. I had COVID in 2021 before we had any vaccines available. I was very sick..and I have long COVID. I think that was what caused mine. I am with you, managing my sugar is very challenging and consumed a major portion of my brain!!!

I also got covid a couple years ago. Being type 1 they found me in my condo out like a light and rushed me to ICU with a BS of close to 1000. Didn't know it was possible and still be alive? In ICU for 10 days. Gave me a 10% chance of recovering. And here I am! Gotta take care of myself most of all! so I can help others. God is by my side always!

Dee, I got LADA about 1.5 years after I got laid-off. For my new job I had to commute 125 miles a day. I was very stressed. I’ve often wondered if that caused my issues.

It does feel isolating. For over a year they gave me Metformin and then Ozempic which did not improve my blood sugar. I found LADA info online and requested the lab work. The labwork showed I had LADA and that I am making very little insulin. So little that I am considered T1. Since starting insulin I have more energy and can eat more than just salad and blackbeans and still averaging about 140.

I wonder if the LADA developed after a year of working in a horribly stressful environment. What are your thoughts on how you developed LADA?
