I drink Alkaline water. I have recently enjoyed drinking Blackberry flavored HINT water. I was raised on sweet tea in South Texas so that is my favorite drink. I like it so much I am willing to dial up extra insulin on my pump so I can indulge. I will live "with" diabetes, but I choose not to LIVE DIABETES. I am 77, so that makes a difference.

Heat and sun can drop your BG fast add activation and it could be a problem. Know what happens with you. If your BG drops and even if it doesn't always have sugar on you. Gluclose tabs juice boxes candy something. That said keep your meds cool. A little ice pack in a little cooler. I took the one from my child's lunch kit. If you use a pump or a cgm have a change on you as sweating can make your set fall out. Enjoy your outside activities don't lim8t them. Diabetes is part of life. Just be prepared for lows and highs depending on activity and your own body.

I love being out in the sun. But I know I have to hydrate and if my blood sugar is higher not to freak out it takes a little more time to adjust levels. I keep snacks nearby. And most importantly, after getting out of the sun I will closely monitor my glucose #s.

If you use Gatorade to prevent dehydration, use Zero.

As I get older the summer heat humidity is getting harder to deal with managing my diabetes. Seems like when out hiking excessive sweating keeps my bs lower and it stays lower. This disease is terrible 😣
