Hi Mark, the best way I’ve found to gain weight and muscle is to lift weights and eat a high protein low carb diet. I’m guessing you already know this and your question was more geared toward a diet to follow. I eat 6-7 low carb smaller meals per day w/ a minimum of 20 grams of protein per meal. This has worked well for me for the last 30+ years. If you want want more specific advice, feel free to message me.

To gain weight and muscle, especially if you have type 1 diabetes, it's important to focus on a balanced diet that includes adequate protein, as protein is crucial for muscle building. Here are some tips based on the context provided:

1. **Increase Protein Intake**: Protein has minimal effects on blood glucose and is essential for muscle building. Include sources like eggs, low-fat dairy products, poultry, fish, meat, beans, nuts, chickpeas, lentils, and whole grains in your meals and snacks.

2. **Monitor Macronutrients**: Ensure you're getting a balanced intake of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Carbohydrates can affect blood sugar levels quickly, so choose fiber-rich options which can help manage blood sugar spikes.

3. **Stay Hydrated**: Proper hydration is crucial for overall health and can help manage blood sugar levels. Aim to drink water regularly throughout the day.

4. **Regular Physical Activity**: Exercise is key to building muscle. Engage in both aerobic and resistance training exercises to help improve muscle mass and insulin sensitivity.

5. **Consult with Healthcare Providers**: Before making significant changes to your diet or exercise routine, it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals who understand your specific health needs related to type 1 diabetes.

These strategies should be tailored to your individual health needs and goals.
