I Started To Use An Insulin Pump 2 Months And Have Gained 15 Pounds. Would Adding Wegovy Help Me? Anyone Else Doing This With Type 1?

I am on Fiasp as my insulin and was diagnosed with Late Onset Adult Type I Diabetes about 7 or 8 years ago. I haven't changed my diet at all and I'm hating this extra weight. Has anyone asked their doctor about this or currently using Wegovy along with their insulin?

Gaining weight can be a positive sign that the insulin is effective. Instead of losing nutrients, your body is utilizing the food you consume. The term 'diabetes' originates from the Latin word for 'funnel.' With insulin therapy, your body is no longer acting like a funnel. It might be beneficial to modify your diet, such as reducing carbohydrate intake. Exercise is essential for weight management; even walking is beneficial.

Best wishes!

Just had this discussion with my GENERAL physician. She said it is a common side effect with T1. I have always been under weight & have put on 30 lbs. since being diagnosed with T1 at 70.That along with a slower metabolism at 82. She recommended limiting carbs and eating high protein food along with exercise.
