Activity requires more calories than no activity- I eat cut up apples, protein bars and drinks/ shakes, anything you can eat while still moving and doing your job. Pack a little cooler and be glued to it. It's best to eats bites do something more bites repeat!! Apples work for me.

And remember, if you are experiencing lows it means you are overdosing insulin. So either your basal insulin is too high, or you’ve misbolused for a previous meal.

Lead every meal with protein. Keep carbs low. Small doses of insulin for meals. Basal test often to make sure no extra basal is in use.

Managing energy levels during a long, highly active workday with type 1 diabetes requires careful planning and monitoring. Here are some tips that might help:

1. **Frequent Blood Sugar Monitoring**: Keep a close eye on your blood sugar levels. Consider using a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) for real-time feedback and alerts.

2. **Balanced Meals and Snacks**: Ensure your meals and snacks are well-balanced with a mix of carbohydrates, protein, and fats to provide sustained energy.

3. **Hydration**: Stay hydrated throughout the day, as dehydration can affect blood sugar levels.

4. **Scheduled Breaks**: Take regular breaks to check your blood sugar, eat a snack if necessary, and rest briefly.

5. **Emergency Supplies**: Always have quick-acting glucose sources on hand in case of hypoglycemia.

6. **Communication**: Inform a trusted colleague about your condition and what to do in case you need assistance.

These strategies can help manage your energy and maintain stable blood sugar levels during demanding workdays.
