Everyone including folks which aren't diabetic have a natural release of glucose from fat cells so you get up with food in your blood. It is part of your natural sleep cycle. So it's normal. Maintaining a good blood sugar level through the night is a trick which requires work every day and night.

I was put on Dexcom 6 and Omnipod 5 back in December being as my blood sugar was all over the map while I was eating as healthy as I could be. After 1 month I was still experiencing morning high numbers so my endocrinologist adjusted the settings on my omnipod and that has helped. I go back for a 3 month checkup later this month and I believe my A1C should definitely be better!! 🙏

It sounds like you might be experiencing the dawn phenomenon, which is a common occurrence in people with type 1 diabetes. This happens due to natural hormonal changes in the body that increase blood sugar levels in the early morning hours, before breakfast. Here are a few strategies you might consider:

1. **Adjust your insulin pump settings**: Since you're using an Omnipod, you might want to discuss with your healthcare provider the possibility of adjusting your basal rates to counteract the morning rise in blood sugar.

2. **Monitor your CGM data closely**: Your Dexcom CGM can provide valuable insights into your morning glucose patterns. Use this data to identify the exact time your sugar starts to rise and adjust your insulin delivery accordingly.

3. **Consider your dinner timing and composition**: Eating a high-carb or high-fat meal late in the evening can sometimes cause higher blood sugar levels in the morning. You might experiment with having your dinner earlier or adjusting its macronutrient composition.

4. **Exercise in the evening**: Some people find that light to moderate exercise in the evening can help improve their insulin sensitivity overnight and into the next morning.

5. **Check for device issues**: Ensure your Omnipod is delivering insulin properly and that there are no absorption issues at the infusion site.

Remember, any adjustments to your diabetes management plan should be made in consultation with your healthcare team to ensure they're safe and tailored to your specific needs.
