I took my son to a therapist when he was diagnosed at 14 and really struggling with it. It helped him a lot. He's 18 now and really struggling with high blood sugars and can't seen to get his a1c down. He's going through another emotional experience again. We may have to start therapy back up again
Wow Nancy, that's a good question. Being that I am a newly diagnosed diabetic, I'm not sure myself. I just freaked out over forgetting my password while changing my sensor (funny, not funny) I did see one example: take in 2 quick breaths (thru your nose) then out one LONG breath (thru your mouth). I've tried this a few times & I think it works, when I remember to do that. I guess practice is important. God bless you, as you travel this new path.
I find that taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly helps me relieve stress. Yoga is another good way.
