So I Was Diagnosed With Late Onset Type1 Diabetes About 4 Years Ago And Was Wondering About Insulin Pumps Is It A Good Idea Is There Downsid
I was diagnosed at age 40 (19 years ago). I used MDI for the first two years, and then decided to go to a pump. Been on Medtronic ever since. Currently on the 780G and it is good and works great for me. MDI is not always convenient, but the pump made me feel a little more normalized. At the time, I had one kid, and the pump allowed me to play and do everything normal dads did. I did not have a CGM at the time, and that didn't come for many years down the line. That my friend was the game changer. A pump that works with your CGM to regulate the amount of insulin you get .... More Freedom. I would seriously investigate them. Do some research, pay attention to the features and talk to your doctor or others. I like the Medtronic. I also liked Tandem, but there were a couple of things I did not like, so I stayed with Medtronic. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
I switched to the pump because I'm pretty active and it was impossible to withdraw insulin once injected, so I would have constant lows and became afraid to do a lot of things. My pump is a Tandem X2 has control IQ where it increases or decreases your insulin according to your CGM readings, it also has an exercise mode which helps. I can even disconnect or stop insulin delivery if needed. My life still isn't as easy as someone without diabetes but it makes me a lot more confident with the alarms letting me know when I'm Low or High.
I Started To Use An Insulin Pump 2 Months And Have Gained 15 Pounds. Would Adding Wegovy Help Me? Anyone Else Doing This With Type 1?
How Do You Surpass The Overnight Lows In Order To Get A Full Night's Sleep?
I've Posted Several Times About My 18 Year Old Struggling With Constant Highs. 300-400. He Increases The Basal Rate On His Pump Frequently.
