Has Anyone Else Ever Experience Wild Blood Sugar Discrepancies With The Dexcom Compared To Their Meter Read?

A myT1Dteam Member asked a question 💭

When on the Dexcom 6, I often experienced a variant of over 35% compared to my meter read. This landed me in the hospital with a critical low (below 25). I ended up getting off the Dexcom because the FDA has approved a known 25% variant (meaning: Dexcom says your 120 but your actual BS is 90 or lower). My Dexcom would read 175 but I was actually 98, this would mean I was way over dosing by trusting the Dexcom read.

I’ve had the same problem. I’m fortunate that I can still feel when BGL is low. When I start feeling strange I will perform blood draw to ascertain my BGL then calibrate my Dexcom. I also had the same problem with the Libre2. The thing that I noticed about drastically differing readings between CGM and BGM is insertion site of CGM. If I don’t insert CGM in the best spot. I get wildly erratic results.

Hi, I’m using a G7 now. The whole time I used my G6 I used my I phone to check my numbers. I didn’t want to use a transmitter. I finally did . It has been life changing. I would say my numbers are within 10 points. I still do finger prick checks before bed and when I’m going somewhere that I don’t want to think about my diabetes the whole time. I know it’s always there but after 48 years there are times when I just don’t want to think about it constantly. It’s always in the back of my mind .

I use the Libre2. The downside to this model is that when it alarms low or high, you check, and dose, it doesn't recheck and alarm again. So, if you get a low and under treat or it doesn't come up enough, the Libre2 will NOT alarm.
