Is Anyone Here Using The Medtronic 780G Pump? What Do You Think Of It?
@A myT1Dteam Member I wasn't a fan either at first. It took a few months for the cgm to get used to my body and give me accurate corrections for blood sugar spikes. I kept going low a lot and it was frustrating. But now it's adjusted and I like it a lot. I'm glad you're liking it too. Technology can be aggravating but I feel lucky to be alive in a time when we have so many options to help deal with this disease.
@A myT1Dteam Member I would definitely recommend getting a cgm too. It's been such a blessing for me. My A1C was never got below an 8 before I got on one. After upgrading to the 780g and guardian 4 sensor in November mine got to a 6.6. I haven't had it that low in years.
I was not a fan of the 770G at all. It took me awhile to come around to the 780G. I am really glad that I did. It works wonderfully, and I don't have to pay attention to my diabetes as much. I am a lot of days 100% in range and no lower than 92% range. I have had no issues with the sensors as of yet. The upgrade was pretty painless. I let them tell me that my iphone was not compatible, but it was and I did the upgrade before the loaner phone even came in. I would do it. I don't think you will regret it.
I am.currently on a Mini med 630g older pump that I really like. Been with this company for 20 plus years also and no issues.. Medtronics is just so great to work with! I am 70 years old and have been T1 since age 5. No real big issues..some vision loss but minimal. I guess It's getting to the point that I would like even better control and deciding about what direction to go for an updated lump. I am really interested in this new 780g PKG ( haven't used CGM yet) but also considering a Tandem TSlim. I want simplicity and ease of use as I really am not very techy. Seeing my Diabetic specialist mid April and really kinda nervous about choosing. Any comments/encouragement for me?
Hi there! I'm on the minimed 780g pump along with the guardian 4 cgm. I've been on minimed pumps for 20+ years. I like the company and have never had any problems with their products or customer service. I love the 780g and had a great trainer from medtronic teach me on the new system. I highly recommend getting the continuous glucose monitor as well. The guardian 4 links wirelessly to the 780g and sends constant blood sugar updates to it. The pump will then automatically adjust your insulin to the readings. It's been a game changer for me in life. I feel much more free with the pump because I can get up & go and not have to worry about carrying supplies like needles around all the time. Let me know if you have any specific questions! I'm happy to help in any way I can.
