Contact your local JDRF! They have literature for both kids and parents as well as mentors and meetings/meet-ups.

Thank you. I have contacted them, sent a donation and hope to become involved and even create literature. I have worked in special ed advocacy training and with the disAbility Law Center in my previous state. This is going to be quite a journey. I and my daughter are thankful for people like you who reach out!

I am so sorry to hear. Yes it can be frightening, especially for parents and grandparents! Best thing I can tell you is be strong and remain calm around your granddaughter. My mother fell apart when I was diagnosed, and that affected me for a long, long time. I blamed myself for causing my family pain and hardship.
The good news is that T1D is a condition one can live with. The medical miracles are happening every day. Stay positive, listen to the Doctors and don’t hesitate to ask questions! Sending a big hug for your granddaughter and your familt❣️
